Our Teenagers face many real challenges, on a daily basis, as this is the most awkward yet exciting period of their growing process. During this time, teens are exposed to overwhelming external and internal struggles. They go through, and are expected to cope with hormonal changes, puberty, social and parental forces, work and school pressures, and so on. Many teens feel misunderstood. Also the enemy of our souls, is also actively working to destroy the young ones during this crucial age. It is vital that their feelings and thoughts are validated and that this validation comes from their parents first and then the church.
1. Many teens suffer from negative body image.
2. They long to belong to supportive and accepting communities beyond their family.
3. They experience stress and difficulty prioritizing and managing their time.
4. They feel lots of pressure from peers, parents, and society to conform to conflicting expectations.
5. They are at risk of mental and physical health issues.
6. They lack good mentors, role models, and heroes.
7. They are tempted to begin unhealthy patterns with drugs and alcohol.
8. They are exposed to on-screen violence and unhealthy social media.
9. They face bullying—online and off.
10. They may participate in risky sexual activity and behavior.
Parents need to approach their children, who have been dealing with teenage growth issues, carefully and in a friendly manner to discuss their concerns. The teens ministry platform acts as a support system for the parents by creating a non threatening, friendly, spiritually charged atmosphere in the church, for the teens to open up about their challenges and to receive spiritual support. It is the desire and vision of the church that all our teens are led to the baptism of the Holy Spirit and continue walking in the anointing and gifts of the Holy Spirit and in the word of God.
As many are the challenges faced by our teens, the good news is that the gospel message has the power and scope to equip our teens not only to overcome these issues but also to thrive and flourish in the power of the Holy Spirit and thereby influence and impact the nation of India with the love of Jesus Christ.
2 Timothy 1:6-7
For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
